Premios y Distinciones

  •   2017 Enrique Beltran Prize for the Conservation of Natural Resources

The Wildlife Society of Mexico & International Council on Natural Resources and Wildlife

    México, 2017

This award consolidates a work that Ricardo Rozzi has been directing since 2000 in the area. One of Dr. Rozzi's substantive contributions to conservation has been the assessment of the biological and cultural singularities of subantarctic ecosystems, specifically the discovery of a biodiversity hotspot for bryophytes in Cape Horn, which allowed to identify the importance for the conservation and the studies of long term of the austral end. Rozzi in his provocative gaze invites us to recognize the cohabitation between living beings and the various views, their frontiers, limits and complexities, highlighting the contribution of traditional knowledge such as that provided by the Yaghan People, which allowed the settlement of the southern end in one of the most complex areas for navigation and human settlements.
