I have directed six PH. D. theses, at P. Universidad Católica de Chile and Universidad de Chile: Robert Auffarth, January 2014; Martha Romero 2013; Mariela Carvacho, 2010; Carolina Becerra, 2004; Anita Rojas, 2002; Gustavo Labbé, 1995.

I have also co-tutored four Ph. D. theses, in Chile, Spain and Mexico, and more than fifteen Master theses in Chile; several of these students continued PH. D. studies abroad; I have taught many graduate courses at P. Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad de Chile, Universidad Técnica F. Santa María and Universidad de la Frontera.

We (the Chilean Complex Geometry Group) have a permanent weekly seminar, alternating at different Universities throughout the country, an annual meeting, and usually run Geometry sessions at the Chilean Mathematical Society meetings. In all these actiivities students are welcome and they do participate; we also share the training of postdocs and graduate students among ourselves and with our international collaborators.

I received the Presidential Chair on Science (Catedra Presidencial en Ciencias) in 1997. It was awarded by the President of Chile, under the recommendation of an international panel. Funds were originally allocated for two years (1998-1999), after which we applied for another two years extension, which was granted.
